The basics about who we are and what we do
PittStop Aviation is a Dallas–Fort Worth based FAA-certified drone media company founded in 2017. We specialize in three core services: commercial property inspections (rooftops, facades, HVAC systems), promotional aerial media (real estate, brand campaigns, social content), and special occasion coverage (weddings, events, and celebrations). Every flight is executed by a certified Part 107 pilot with over 10 years of aviation experience.
We serve the entire Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex and surrounding areas — including Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Arlington, Irving, Garland, Grand Prairie, Southlake, Grapevine, and beyond. For projects located more than 50 miles outside of DFW, a travel fee may apply. Contact us with your location and we'll confirm availability.
Most drone operators are hobbyists who passed a test. PittStop Aviation is run by a certified A&P aircraft mechanic with over 10 years of professional aviation experience — the same person who has maintained Learjets, Cirrus aircraft, and HondaJets. That background means we approach every flight with the discipline, safety standards, and technical knowledge of a trained aviation professional. We also handle all FAA compliance, airspace coordination, and permitting in-house — so you never have to worry about the legal side.
Yes — PittStop Aviation carries full commercial drone liability insurance on every flight. This protects both our operation and our clients throughout the duration of any mission. Proof of insurance is available upon request for clients who require it for permitting or venue purposes.
We fly professional-grade drones capable of capturing 4K+ ultra-high-definition video and high-resolution still photography. Our equipment features advanced 3-axis stabilization, which eliminates camera shake and produces the smooth, cinematic footage you see in our portfolio. All footage is shot in a professional color profile and edited using industry-standard software before delivery.
Safety is our first priority — we will never fly in unsafe weather conditions. If rain, high winds, or poor visibility prevent a safe and high-quality flight, we will reschedule at no charge. We monitor weather conditions closely in the days leading up to your shoot and will proactively reach out if a rescheduling is needed. Your investment is always protected.
Everything about scheduling, packages, and costs
Booking is simple. Visit our Calendly scheduling page and select the service you need — Commercial Inspection, Promotional Media, or Special Occasion Coverage. Choose your preferred date and time, fill in a few details about your project, and you're confirmed. We'll follow up within 24 hours to finalize your location, package selection, and flight plan.
We offer three tiers for every service — LIFTOFF ($179), CRUISING ($249), and APEX ($349). Each package differs in flight time (30 min, 45 min, 1hr 15min), number of edited deliverables, and turnaround time. All packages include unedited RAW media for immediate on-site delivery, plus MP4, JPG, and RAW file formats. For projects that don't fit a package, our flat hourly rate is $75/hr. Full package details are on our Services page.
We require a minimum of 24 hours notice for standard bookings. For APEX packages or complex projects requiring special airspace coordination, we recommend booking at least 48–72 hours in advance. For events like weddings or large commercial inspections, we suggest booking 1–2 weeks ahead to secure your preferred date and allow time for proper flight planning.
We understand that plans change. Cancellations made more than 24 hours before your scheduled session can be rescheduled at no charge. Cancellations within 24 hours may be subject to a rescheduling fee. Weather-related cancellations are always complimentary — if we can't fly safely, we reschedule free of charge, period. Reach out at pittstopav@gmail.com with any scheduling changes.
Yes — we value our repeat clients and long-term partners. If you're a real estate agent, property manager, or business owner who needs regular aerial coverage, contact us about retainer pricing and volume discounts. We also offer package deals for clients booking multiple services at once (e.g., inspection + promotional media for a new development). Reach out directly to discuss a custom arrangement.
The $75/hour rate is completely standalone — no package required. It's designed for clients who have projects that don't fit neatly into a timed package, such as large multi-building campuses, extended event coverage, or open-ended inspection jobs. You simply pay for the time you need. Deliverables for hourly bookings are discussed and agreed upon before the flight.
FAA compliance, airspace, and how we keep every flight safe
Yes — our pilot holds a current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, which is the federal certification required to legally operate drones for commercial purposes in the United States. This certification requires passing a comprehensive FAA knowledge exam covering airspace rules, weather, flight operations, and safety regulations. Every flight we conduct is 100% legal and compliant.
DFW and Love Field airports create controlled airspace that covers large portions of the Metroplex. Operating in this airspace requires FAA authorization through the LAANC system (Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability). PittStop Aviation is authorized to obtain LAANC approvals, meaning we can legally fly in many areas of controlled DFW airspace that unlicensed operators cannot. We always coordinate airspace authorization before any flight in controlled areas.
Under FAA Part 107 rules, drones are restricted to a maximum altitude of 400 feet above ground level in uncontrolled airspace. In some controlled airspace areas, lower altitude limits may apply. For inspection work near tall structures, Part 107 allows flying above 400 feet as long as we remain within 400 feet of the structure itself. All altitude operations are planned and executed in strict compliance with FAA guidelines.
FAA regulations govern the airspace, but property owners and HOAs can restrict drone operations on or over their land. For residential shoots, we recommend notifying your HOA in advance. For commercial properties, building management or property owners should be informed. We can provide a letter of FAA certification and insurance documentation to help you obtain any needed permissions. We'll guide you through this process before your shoot.
Every PittStop Aviation mission begins with a comprehensive pre-flight checklist that includes: weather assessment (wind speed, visibility, precipitation), airspace verification (LAANC authorization if required), equipment inspection (battery, propellers, sensors, remote), site survey (identifying hazards, people, and obstacles), and emergency landing zone identification. This protocol comes directly from our founder's decade of professional aviation maintenance experience — where safety is never optional.
Yes — the FAA's Operations Over People rule (effective April 2021) allows Part 107 pilots to fly over people and at night without a waiver, provided specific equipment and operational requirements are met. Night operations in controlled airspace still require LAANC authorization. If your event or project requires nighttime or over-crowd operations, let us know when booking and we'll confirm our equipment meets the applicable FAA requirements.
What you receive, when you receive it, and how it's delivered
All deliverables are sent digitally via a secure download link. Unedited RAW footage is available for immediate delivery on-site — we can transfer directly to your device or storage at the end of the flight. Edited deliverables (color-graded video clips and retouched photos) are delivered to your email within your package's turnaround window — 24 hours for LIFTOFF, 36 hours for CRUISING, and 48 hours for APEX.
All packages include three file formats: MP4 (edited and unedited video, ready for social media, MLS, or web), JPG (edited high-resolution photos, print and web ready), and RAW (unprocessed original files for clients who want to apply their own editing or color grading). RAW files give you maximum flexibility — they're the same files our editors work from.
Yes. All media and promotional packages include a full commercial use license — meaning you can use the footage in property listings, marketing campaigns, social media, websites, advertising, and anywhere else your business requires. Special Occasion packages include a personal use license. If you need additional licensing terms for a specific commercial application, just let us know and we can discuss it.
Edited deliverables go through our full post-production process, which includes: color grading (professional color correction for a cinematic look), stabilization review (ensuring all footage is smooth and shake-free), music sync for CRUISING and APEX video packages, photo retouching (exposure, contrast, sharpness, sky enhancement), and final export optimization for your intended platform (MLS, social media, web, or print).
Client satisfaction is our standard. If your edited deliverables don't meet the quality level we demonstrated in our portfolio, we'll work with you to make it right. We encourage all clients to provide a shot list or specific requests before the flight — this is the best way to ensure you get exactly what you envisioned. Reshoot requests due to weather, technical failure, or quality issues on our end are honored at no additional cost.
Drone inspections for commercial properties across DFW
PittStop Aviation performs drone inspections on a wide range of commercial structures including flat and sloped rooftops, building facades, HVAC and mechanical systems, solar panel arrays, construction sites, cell towers, and commercial real estate properties. Our high-resolution imaging captures detailed close-up views of problem areas — gutters, flashing, membrane damage, structural cracks, and equipment condition — all without scaffolding, lifts, or putting workers at risk.
Traditional inspections require scaffolding, boom lifts, or roof access — which is expensive, slow, and carries real safety risk. Drone inspections are faster (a typical roof inspection takes 30–60 minutes vs. half a day), safer (no one goes on the roof), more cost-effective (no lift rental or scaffolding fees), and often more thorough — our cameras can reach angles and heights that human inspectors physically cannot access safely.
Yes — high-resolution drone imagery is widely accepted as documentation for insurance claims, warranty disputes, and contractor assessments. Our footage provides timestamped, GPS-tagged visual evidence of property condition. Many insurance adjusters and property managers specifically request drone documentation because of its accuracy and completeness. We recommend the CRUISING or APEX package for inspection work intended for insurance purposes, as it includes a detailed shot log alongside the footage.
You don't need to be physically present, but we do require that someone with site access coordinates with us before the flight — either yourself or a property manager. We need access to the property perimeter, any gate codes or parking instructions, and contact information for on-site personnel. For multi-tenant commercial properties, we may also need a brief authorization letter from the property owner or management company.
Weddings, occasions, real estate, and brand content
We prioritize being discreet and professional at all events. We coordinate closely with your event planner or venue coordinator beforehand to identify key moments, safe flight windows, and areas to avoid. Modern drones are significantly quieter than older models, and with proper planning, most guests won't even notice us. We never interrupt ceremony moments — we capture them from a respectful distance with our zoom and stabilization capabilities.
Many venues have policies regarding drone use on their property — especially indoor venues, country clubs, and private estates. It is the client's responsibility to confirm drone permissions with the venue before booking with us. We're happy to provide our FAA certification, insurance certificate, and a brief operational overview letter to help you secure venue approval. We recommend confirming this at least one week before your event date.
The data is clear — listings with aerial drone footage sell significantly faster and generate more inquiries than listings with ground-level photography alone. Aerial shots give buyers critical context: lot boundaries, neighborhood proximity, access roads, surrounding amenities, and the overall property layout. According to industry research, over 85% of buyers in 2025 expect to see aerial visuals when browsing listings. For luxury properties, new construction, and any listing where location is a selling point, drone media isn't optional — it's essential.
Absolutely. When booking your Promotional Media session, let us know which platforms you're targeting and we'll optimize the edit and aspect ratio accordingly — vertical 9:16 for Instagram Reels and TikTok, horizontal 16:9 for YouTube and websites, and square 1:1 for grid posts. Our CRUISING and APEX packages include a music-synced highlight edit that is specifically designed to perform well on social media platforms.
The two best times are Golden Hour Morning (30–60 minutes after sunrise) and Golden Hour Evening (30–60 minutes before sunset). During these windows, the sun is low on the horizon, creating warm, directional light that makes properties look stunning and footage feel cinematic. Midday shooting produces harsh shadows and flat color. If your project allows for scheduling flexibility, we always recommend a golden hour shoot — the difference in quality is dramatic.
